Here’s a little task for the website followers.

Tell me -- Who did it better than the original artist?
The other day, I heard a cover of an old song – Bottle of Wine. The original was recorded by The Kingston Trio. But, the version I heard was recorded by The Fireballs -- pretty much a “A One-Hit-Wonder” group from the 60s.
I was struck by how great The Fireballs' version was. After that, I had to go on line and listen to the original. What a difference! The Fireballs cover of that Kingston Trio recording was not just better, it was much better.
That got me thinking about other cover songs that were much better than the original recording. I made a list, and here is my list of cover recordings that, in my opinion, are either better, or much better, than the original recording.
More FYI. The definition of a cover song/recording is - a recording of a song that was first recorded or made popular by somebody else.
______
#1 on that list has to be - The Beatles cover of The Isley Brothers - Twist and Shout.
The others on my admittedly short list, and in no particular order, are:
The Fireballs covering the Kingston Trio - Bottle of Wine.
Billy Idol’s cover of the Tommy James and the Shondells recording of - Mony Mony.
Disturbed’s recent cover of the Simon and Garfunkel classic - The Sound of Silence.
Now, the task for you is -- tell me what you think! What other artists covered a recording and did it better that the original?
Reply here. I’ll post a new list and we can compare and contrast!
Thanks for your time and input. Now let’s have some fun!
