Sharon McGovern, a new graduate with a degree in geology from the University of Houston, is hired by Sanders Oil Company, in Houston, Texas. As with most recently graduated geologists, Sharon is given a project to ease her into the oil industry. She is assigned to review and evaluate a wildcat project Sanders Oil is ready to drill. As she gets into the meat of the evaluation, she begins to see problems.
In a short time, she comes to see that the prospect is simply not as good as the hype surrounding the prospect. As she digs even deeper, she discovers weaknesses in what was said to be a sure-shot. Instead of being a boon for Sanders Oil, the evidence points to a weak prospect. Then, instead of being thanked for uncovering the problems, some people in the office turn on her. Sharon faces a dilemma. Should she leave the company? That would be the easy way, but that way goes against her basic nature. Against the near overwhelming forces against her, she can’t run from a fight. She must learn the truth, and if it means saving Sanders Oil as she does, all the better.

1948
Under a shroud of secrecy rivaling that of The Manhattan Project, Army and Air Force scientists begin Project Backdoor. Using alien technology recovered from UFO crashes, they work to create an artificial wormhole, a portal capable of instantly transporting troops into the heart of the Soviet Union.
The technology fails and many die. By the mid-1950's, the government abandons the project.
Omega One, a shadow organization cloaked in secrecy, with tentacles of influence in every aspect of American life; the military, business, education and government, steals the project. They seek to control the wormholes for their own self-enriching purposes. With jack booted methods, Omega brutally enforces its paranoid secrecy. A hint of its existence to the public means death to the person who talks.
Under Omega, Project Backdoor succeeds, almost. Rather than opening a door between the United States and Russia, the project opens a door to another world. Once pierced, the boundary between the dimensions loses its cohesion. Wormholes randomly open between the two worlds.
Present Day
An avalanche strands an Amtrak train in the Northern Rockies. As three men, passengers on the train, struggle to wait out the storm and be rescued, they are drawn into the forgotten remains of Project Backdoor. Cleve Baxter, an Air Force medic, Will Gravets, a scientist and writer and Ty Lawrence, an ex-college football player, find themselves caught between our world and the other world on the other side of a wormhole.

Do you ever wonder about gravity?
Have you ever wondered just what it is that holds us all so firmly to the ground? Obviously it’s gravity. But what exactly is gravity? At first glance, it seems as if that question should be easy to answer, but it’s one of the most difficult questions out there.
So, what is gravity?
I’ve wondered about gravity for a very long time. I’ve read books and science magazines that focus on that subject. The interesting thing is that after I finished reading, I still didn’t know what gravity actually was. Put simply, when I drop my pen, why does it fall to the ground? When NASA launches a satellite, what force pulls it into an orbit and keeps it from flying off into space. None of the books and magazines I’ve read covered the subject on that level.
A Logical View Of Gravity takes a look at gravity, with the idea of answering those questions. The book begins with the most basic of views. I examine that fundamental idea of gravity and put it into an easy to understand language with easy to understand images. I then build, logical idea upon logical idea, until the question, what is gravity, has been answered.
With the question of why gravity pulls us toward the surface of the Earth, the way gravity works is expanded to discussions of how gravity affects, and is affected by, some of the most exotic concepts in modern cosmology – Black Holes, Multiple Universes and Dark Energy.
You probably have never heard of gravity discussed in this way, but it is all very logical, easy to understand, and it works.
